Welcome to the graduate program!

The Department of Communication Studies offers a Master of Arts degree. The program can be completed in four seemsters if a student is enrolled full-time.

The program specializes in providing students with a sound theoretical and practical background which allows them to become more competitive in the work place or to continue studies in a Ph.D. program.

Courses are offered in the areas of interpersonal and organizational communication, mass communication, and rhetoric/public address.

Students generally find the program to be supportive and international in flavor. The faculty take pride in providing a nurturing environment in which students can make a healthy transition from undergraduate to graduate studies.

The program has a strong international representation. In recent years, graduate students from Africa, Egypt, India, Wales, Brazil, China, Germany, Japan, Malaysia, Russia, Ethiopia, and Taiwan have participated in the program.

Option in Community College Pedagogy

The Master of Arts in Communication Studies with an Option in Community College Pedagogy prepares students for teaching communication courses at two-year colleges. A combination of theoretical and applied courses, instructional practicums and supervised student-teaching provide students with a strong background in communication and pedagogical theory and the opportunity to put the theory into practice.
