If you are interested in enrolling in the graduate program in the Department of Communication Studies, then you need to take the next step and submit an application. A complete application to the University includes the following:

Sent to the graduate school

• An application for admission to the Graduate School with a check for $30.00 to cover the application fee.
• A copy of your official transcripts.

Send the following to the graduate coordinator

• Three letters of recommendation attesting to academic ability
• A academic writing sample to demonstrate your preparation for graduate level writing
• A goals statement (explaining why you want an M.A. in communication and why from EIU)
• Personal Information Sheet or resume

If you are interested in a graduate assistantship, then you need to also to submit a graduate assistantship application.

The department accepts applications to the graduate program throughout the year. Graduate assistantship applications are normally accepted through the middle of February with a decision for the next academic year within a month.
